We got a little taste of pre-fall this weekend when the temps dipped, and I found myself reaching for light layers again. Perfect timing — Sézane just dropped their pre-fall collection, and it’s so good.

I picked up the crochet Nora cardigan, which I’ll wear with wide-leg jeans and ballet flats for everyday or dressed up with my asymmetrical Dries Van Noten skirt and tall leather boots. Sézane also launched two new bags: the Gary, a minimal bucket bag, and the Lou, a crossbody camera bag that works seamlessly for everyday. (I ordered the Lou in black!)

As we head into fall, soft layers are essential. Pleated bermuda shorts can be dressed up with a matching blazer and Tabi heels, or dressed down with a soft knit and Birkenstocks. The key is to adapt your wardrobe to the changing season.

Hydration Is Everything: Skincare in Your 40s

Once you hit your 40s, hydration becomes non-negotiable. Our skin naturally starts to lose moisture and elasticity, making it more prone to dryness, dullness, and fine lines. The key to keeping your skin radiant and resilient? Lock in moisture at every step of your routine.

Two products that have been absolutely unmatched in my skincare lineup are Augustinus Bader and U Beauty. Yes, they’re an investment—but the visible results speak for themselves. Both brands offer deeply hydrating, high-performance formulas that support skin regeneration and smooth out texture like nothing else I’ve tried.

Another trick I swear by: after applying serum, I gently pat a small amount of organic cold-pressed castor oil onto my skin before layering on moisturizer. It acts like a natural seal, helping everything underneath absorb more effectively. At night, I often slug with Vaseline as the final step to lock in moisture—it’s especially helpful during dry months or after retinol use.

Speaking of which, retinols and vitamin C serums are key for improved skin texture and evening out tone. They brighten, smooth, and help reduce the appearance of fine lines over time. Just make sure to pair them with sunscreen during the day!
