From the charming ceramic bottle to the vintage-styled blue font, the Jo Malone Marmalade collection has to be one of my favourite fragrance releases this season.

The five limited-edition perfumes, Tangy Rhubarb, Rose Blush, Elderflower Cordial, Orange Peel, and Blackberry & Bay capture summer in a bottle. Think nostalgia and marmalade dreams. Everything and anything that makes summer pleasing.

Admittedly when I first heard of the collection I had questions. What does rhubarb smell like? How about elderflower?

In this post, I break down the main accords and fragrance notes to help you determine which scent is for you.

And in case you're wondering, my faves are Tangy Rhubarb, followed by Elderflower Cordial. I could wear those two scents every day and not grow tired of them. In actuality, the entire collection is incredible.

TANGY RHUBARB COLOGE

Main Accords: Citrus. Green. Fruity.

The unmistakable tang of rhubarb.

This cologne is tart but it comes across green. It also feels like it has a floral vibe thanks to the zesty orange and cedarwood.

Top note: Rhubarb. Tart and green, the crunchiness of rhubarb brings a striking and bold character.
Heart note: Orange. Bitter-fresh, it suffuses the fragrance with a zesty bite.
Base note: Cedarwood. Its woody, dry character imbues the base with charismatic intensity.

ELDERFLOWER CORDIAL COLOGNE

Main Accords: Fruity. Sweet. Floral.

A soft, powdery floral scent.

Elderflower is complemented by hawthorn, mixed with the tartness of summer thanks to the green gooseberry top note.

Top note: Gooseberry. Fruity and tart, the gooseberry accord opens the fragrance with a crisp, piquant edge.
Heart note: Elderflower. This soft, countryside floral accord characterises the fragrance with its enchanting delicacy.
Base note: Dried Fruits. A delicious syrup note that wraps the fragrance in a luxuriously rich texture.

ROSE BLUSH COLOGNE

Main Accords: Rose. Floral. Woody.

This scent is light and feels well-rounded thanks to the note of juicy lychee, vibrant basil, and base note of white musk.

Top note: Basil. The herbaceous warmth of basil, with a peppery edge, brings an unexpected twist to the fresh floral character of Rose.
Heart note: Rose. As the fragrance unfurls, this opulent floral infusion with pure petally, honey facets it wraps the scent with sumptuous naturality.
Base note: White Musk. Powdery and clean, it enhances the trail of the scent, adding a softness that endures.

BLACKBERRY & BAY COLOGNE

Main Accords: Fruity. Sweet. Woody.

This unisex scent is tangy and green with blackberry cutting through in the most delightful way.

Top note: Blackberry. Releasing an instant burst of juiciness, natural blackcurrant buds add a fruity, slightly tart accent, while bucco tree essence suggests the lively, crunchy-green character of blackberry leaves.
Heart note: Bay Leaf. An accord based on the natural note of galbanum it brings vegetal brightness and a wonderful green quality to the fragrance.
Base note: Cedar. Its woody, dry character imbues the base with charismatic intensity.

ORANGE PEEL COLOGNE

Main Accords: Citrus. Woody.

This is a citrus aromatic scent for women and men - although it smells more masculine to me. It's fresh and vibrant, reminiscent of summer days by the ocean.

Top note: Orange Peel.
Heart note: Bitter Orange.
Base note: Cashmere Wood.
