A Look Into My Balenciaga Filled Closet
When it comes to shopping I try to stick to my rule of thumb, buy what you love. Sure, some purchases can be impractical at times - ie; pink glitter Saint Laurent boots or green satin Balenciaga flats, but fashion is all about feeling good and nothing makes me feel more like myself than a statement shoe.
For clothes I always keep things pretty basic but with a twist. A classic leather moto jacket from Saint Laurent with a no smoking illustration on the back. An oversized button up shirt that says BALENCIAGA in graphic letters paired with cotton shorts from H&M’s mens section. It’s totally impractical for some but these pieces couldn’t be closer to my personal style as I’ve always been drawn to bold, graphic design.
Some things are worth paying full price. I saw this green mini Loewe Puzzle bag at the SSense Montreal flagship store and it was love at first sight. The biker wallet on a chain from New York designer Kara is a newer addition.

Why The Mustang GT Is THE Car for Date Night

I’ve been very fortunate over the past few years working together with Nathalie to create content and help bring inspiration and knowledge to people wanting to know more on fashion, beauty and lifestyle. Nathalie is the driving force behind WoahStyle but I am the ever present husband behind the scenes helping to bring you her vision.

Occasionally though, she will surprise me with the “fun stuff”. And by fun stuff, I mean perks of the job like cars, getaways or date nights out that we can share together. That’s why when she surprised me with a 2019 GT Premium Convertible Mustang for the weekend to cruise around in, hit up our favourite restaurants and be tourists in our own town, I nearly lost my shit. So on this occasion she has asked me to step out from behind the lens and write my first ever article on my thoughts from the weekend, and I am more than happy to do so.

We couldn’t have asked for a nicer weekend to have a convertible, and so we totally made full use of it by driving with the top down! There is something intangible yet exhilarating about driving with no barrier between you and the outside world that just connects you more to the drive rather than the destination. And so we took the long way around or decided to veer off course when we might have seen something that caught our interest.
Our destination this particular weekend was the Dundas area because it sits nestled right underneath the Niagara escarpment where we have found good food and fun shops. And then right nearby are many parks and trails with multiple waterfalls and lookout points for you to explore.

For dinner, we went to The French in a nearby upscale historic district of Hamilton, and ordered what felt like everything on the menu. We started with the beet & chevre salad, then for the mains Nathalie had the vegetable paella, I had the salmon and we shared a gnocchi dish. Finally, for desert we shared a vanilla crème brûlée and their “opera cake” which consists of almonds, coffee, chocolate and blackberry. Such a fun dinner.
FORD MUSTANG GT 2019
The car itself is crazy, and in my opinion is a beast for the price. At just over $50k, you are getting a 5 litre, 460hp, 420 ft. lb torque automobile, with a 10-speed select shift automatic transmission. This is not your standard automobile!
It looks as bad ass as it sounds too with 18” alloy wheels, optional leather interior, and a new 12” LDC digital instrument cluster with ambient lighting and display called MyColour, which lets you take control of everything you see. Then at night there’s even a mustang projected on the ground, like a kind of welcome mat for your home as you unlock and enter the car. For the drive, there’s also a new lane keeping system included to help alert you if you go out of your lane.

My only wish would have been to drive a standard transmission, as I believe that this is how any true sports car should be driven. Despite this, I was still able to have fun using the paddle shifters in sport mode which helped me quench my desire for some manual control.

One recommendation I have would be for Ford to make the key fob a bit smaller. It was annoyingly large and heavy compared to the key fobs I’m used to carrying. When paired with my already large janitor size key ring, it made it all but impossible to carry in my pocket. Therefore, I found myself either carrying the keys in my hands or giving them to Nathalie to put in her purse, which I don’t think she liked though because she claimed it was wreaking her Balenciaga. A small price to pay for driving a Mustang GT I think!
In general, I have to say that I have never been a muscle car kind of guy, but this car made me change my tune. It’s a comfortable and smooth ride, but has the power of a true muscle car which is the best of both luxury and sport. The engine noise is melodic yet ominous with its deep gurgling rumble as if ready to take off at a moment’s notice.

All in all, it was a great weekend. The Ford GT forced our inner explorer to come out, by being a tourist in our own city. It’s certainly a statement car, from its looks, to its sound, to its power, and surely got us noticed everywhere we went and I can’t say that I minded the attention. After returning the car, I totally forgot how high I typically sit in my SUV and it made me wish I was back MY Mustang GT! Please give me my Mustang back!

The Statement Bag You Didn’t Know You Needed
Okay, I’m sorry for starting of a post by saying you need something because after all, it’s just a bag so do you actually need it? No.
I was on a waitlist for the biker wallet by NYC designer Kara for a few weeks before I actually got my hands on on it. It makes just enough of a statement on even the simplest outfits.
Mind you it only fits my debit, credit and ID cards and that’s just about it. No room for lipstick, my keys, let alone my iPhone XS Max but that doesn’t bother me one bit.
Only the white remains available on ssense.com but Kara’s online shop still seems to have the black in stock. Don’t wait to long though because I have a feeling these are gonna sell out.

Why I Rated Lancôme’s New Blush A+
Lancôme’s Blush Subtil gets a makeover with new, sleeker packaging just in time for summer and the brand sent me two shades to try for myself - Rose Liberté, a matte rose shade, and Make It Pop, a pink shade with gold shimmer that appears coral in the packaging.
They’re long-lasting and richly pigmented - which is excellent if you ask me because nothing irks me more than a blush that doesn’t deposit colour the way it should. It also blends beautifully with my favourite Laura Mercier blush brush, and even though I don’t normally use the tiny brush that it comes with, I truly do appreciate it. Trust me when I say it comes in handy when carrying the bare minimum in a tiny handbag.

Just to prove how good they are, I’ve worn these Lancôme blushes with foundation, on bare skin, and with tinted moisturizer, and I have to say the longevity of these is A+ all the way. There’s no fading either.
The silky powder blush comes in a whopping twenty-seven shades to suit everyone - from sparkling, shimmer, and matte.
My fave of the two is Make It Pop because I find coral blush adds a really nice glow to my complexion.

How To Choose The Right Moisturizer For Your Skin Type (feat. Olay)
There used to be a time when I would change my moisturizer according to the season but that was a long time ago. For the last two years, I’ve been dedicated to my Olay. It’s the only one my grandmother ever used and she had phenomenal skin her whole life.
Since my skin is combination-oily, it used to be tricky for me to find something that would help my makeup stay on all day while hydrating my skin. My previous moisturizers were either too rich or would break me out leave my face looking extremely oily at the end of the day. Or not the opposite end of the spectrum, they weren’t hydrating enough and my skin would feel itchy and tight.
It’s been a battle for sure but go figure, that in my partnership with Olay, I found some moisturizer that keeps my skin hydrated and balanced and go figure, it’s from the drug store. No wonder it was the only one my grandma ever used!

This moisturizer has a solid reputation behind it and some of my favourite beauty editors swear by it. While I’ve been devoted to my Regenerist Whip for the last couple of years, I will occasionally try something new as it is my job as a beauty blogger.
I was delighted to see how well my skin took to this cream after one use. I woke up the next day with visibly plumper and well rested looking skin. Since I liked the results so much, I’ve now taken it on as my night cream, though this can is perfectly good to use both morning and night.
OLAY REGENERIST WHIP
SKIN TYPE:
Normal and combination to oily skin.
LIFESTYLE/ ENVIRONMENT:
Ideal for those in urban settings who are always on the go. Moisturizer needs to absorb quickly and makeup needs to last all day.
WHAT IT IS:
Regenerist Whip is a lightweight, breathable moisturizer that leaves skin with a matte finish. It absorbs quickly, holding and releasing over 1000x its weight in hydration thanks to the Active Rush Technology.
MY THOUGHTS:
This has been my ride-or-die moisturizer for about two years now. I love how quickly it absorbs into the skin meaning I don’t have to wait around until to apply my makeup. And, thanks to the matte finish, it acts like a primer, meaning it’s one less step in my routine. Best of all, it keeps my oily T-zone under control all day so I don’t have to turn to powder.
Even my husband, who has started using moisturizer daily is a big fan of Whip. He has oily skin and has noticed that his skin isn’t as oily at the end of the day compared to some other moisturizers he’s tried.

Since I’m indoors most of the time, I’ve been liking my Micro-Sculpting Cream, but if I have events and meetings in the city, I’ll opt for my Regenerist Whip.

ELLIS BROOKLYN HYDRAPARFUM in the MYTH scent - This alcohol-free fragrance features 100% pure fragrance oil droplets that suspend in a moisturizing hyaluronic acid water-based gel, making it longer lasting than alcohol-based fragrances. It can be applied directly to the skin or my personal fave to wear it is by applying a couple of spritzes to my hair.

MAKEUP
OLIO E OSSO BALM in NO.7 - I was most excited to try this handcrafted balm that I’ve heard so many good things about. It contains organic olive oil, shea oil, natural beeswax, and grapefruit oil. This multiple purpose balm can be used on the lips and cheeks and leaves just the slightest hint of colour.
My Revolve package also came with Benefit’s Hoola, an iconic matte bronzer and my personal fave, and Benefit’s Roller Lash. Both seem to be sold out on the Revolve site as of writing this article.
ACCESSORIES & BRUSHES
ARTIS OVAL 7 BRUSH - This multi-purpose tool can be used to apply foundation, bronzer, blush, highlight, and setting powders. It’s also compatible with liquid, powder, and cream products. It blends makeup in beautifully and to be honest, I was addicted to mine for a solid year before I just got lazy and started blending makeup with my fingers again.
ARTIS BRUSH CLEANSING WIPES - These wipes make cleaning your brushes a breeze and keeps them relatively clean in between washes. It shouldn’t replace actually washing your makeup brushes though. Use these at night to give the bristles a chance to dry. (Sorry, this one is no longer on the Revolve site, however, they do have the Artis Brush Cleansing Foam.)
My overall opinion - Revolve Beauty has some super cool brands and products that I might have not discovered otherwise. However, when the cost of shipping to Canada and customs are taken into account, it can get a little steep and really drive up the overall price.
On the other hand, I’m not sure where I would purchase some of these items otherwise unless I was traveling to the US, so really, placing an order on Revolve is cheaper than airfare.
My favourite products would have to be the scalp scrub (a must for everyone, in my opinion), the Wake Mist, and the MYTH Hydraparfum - which btw, doesn’t agree with my body chemistry but I love, love, love it in my hair.
